Want to do something
about climate change?
Keep up-to-date with our campaigns, advocacy, projects and climate action.
Our vision is for the beautiful Hope Valley to be a great place to live, work and visit due to the integrated systems of high quality public transport, linked to excellent walking and cycling routes and shared electric cars and bikes. Our roads will be safer and quieter; residents and visitors will be healthier and nature will flourish as low-emission and active travel options have become the norm.
Travelling Light is our flagship, nationally significant sustainable travel project, focused on making low-carbon travel the first choice for journeys in and into the Hope Valley. At its heart, Travelling Light is about people: we work closely with local communities, support and empower active travel and transport groups, and build strong partnerships with organisations who share our vision. By bringing residents, volunteers, transport providers and regional partners together, we aim to create practical, lasting change that benefits everyone.
Our work centres on four key areas:
Inclusive active travel
Integrated public transport
Reduced fossil fuel dependency
Innovation and spreading change

Move More Hope Valley

Hope Valley Climate Action has received support from High Peak Borough Council to deliver Move More Hope Valley—an exciting new initiative designed to encourage and support residents and visitors to make more everyday journeys on foot, by bike, or via public transport.
Our aim is to better understand local needs, explore opportunities, and inspire sustainable travel choices that benefit health, wellbeing, and the environment.
We have delivered the first Hope Valley Art Trail by Rail event, led Walker Leader Training, and fomed the Hope Valley Bike Collective!
Switzerland in the Peaks

HVCA, with funding from the Foundation for Integrated Transport (FIT), is creating a plan for dependable, connected public transport in rural areas based on the best ideas from across Europe, especially Switzerland, whose rural transport system is a global benchmark.
The HVCA ‘Switzerland in the Peak District’ project is being supported by national transport experts Thomas Ableman and Nigel Hutton. It is drawing on lessons from Switzerland and adapting them to the needs of rural Britain.

S33 Car club

The S33 Car Club aims to help drivers get where they need to go without the cost and hassle of owning a vehicle.
If you are a driver who either:
- has, or is thinking about getting, a second car;
- doesn’t own a car but who occasionally needs one to reach certain places,
- wants to reduce costs or generate a modest income, or
- wants to reduce your environmental impact
then this scheme will be of particular interest to you!
