Use the Bus 11-24 April

‘Use the Bus’ aims to encourage people to use our local bus services to Sheffield, Bakewell and Buxton. Fewer journeys by car will reduce carbon emissions and help tackle climate change in Hope Valley.

Stress-free enjoyable travel

Use the Bus is supported by bus companies and local councils. With their help we will be asking you to please Use the Bus whenever you can to –

  • relax with family and friends
  • go shopping in Bakewell or Buxton, or enjoy an evening out in Sheffield
  • avoid the hassle and cost of car parking
  • commute to and from work, even once or twice a week
  • meet old and make new friends while travelling
  • reduce carbon emissions and help tackle climate change.

Use the Bus Competition for Children

For now, watch out for the competition for young people – 25 and under – starting 1st February for the best photo, video and/200 words on a bus journey. The best will each get a book prize and their entry could be used on the publicity material for the campaign in April.

Please encourage young friends and family to get on the bus!  Competition ends 25 February.

  1. I have only lived in Great Longstone for 3 months, finding my way about and use the 173 bus at least once a week to Bakewell. I no longer drive due to head & body injuries so am reliant on the service to get to shops, Drs, Dentist etc. I have not seen anything about this nor a leaflet. I have tried looking online for buses to Buxton or Matlock but it became too intensive, scrutinising small print on a phone screen, being affected by light.
Do you have any printed timetables please?
