Open Eco Homes Weekend
Open Eco Homes Weekend 7-8 October 2023
HVCA’s Energy Group has organised an Open Eco Homes Weekend to provide advice and encouragement to folk who want to make energy-saving improvements to their houses and reduce their carbon footprint and energy bills.
Retro-fitting existing homes in the Peak District to the high performance standards not an easy task. There are technical issues as well as financial costs. People appreciate the need to insulate their homes but are discouraged by the cost and disruption. That’s why it’s so important to provide examples. Showing people what can be done is powerful. Explaining how we went about upgrading our homes, what worked and what we’d do differently and answering their we know is useful and motivational. After all, a live visit is worth a thousand Google searches.
