Pies, Pedals and Punctures – Thank you for coming!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday, 29th November for the launch of the Hope Valley Bike Collective at our Pies, Pedals and Punctures event at Hope Sports Club.

The day began with a social ride led by Peak Gravel Gang, alongside our first mountain bike taster session on the field, by Paul from Peak Cycling UK. Highlights included learning new bike skills, getting bikes serviced by 18 Bikes, swapping kit and warming up indoors with  delicious pies and refreshments from Café Adventure while enjoying films of cycling adventures and an inspiring talk on bikepacking tips by Hetty, Peak Grave Gang.

We rounded off the day with a joyful light parade around the field. Well done to everyone who braved the rain and tried something new, and a huge thank-you to High Peak CVS for funding the event and making it possible. If you attended we’d love to hear your thoughts so we can plan future events – please complete this quick 2 minute survey

What’s Next for the Hope Valley Bike Collective?

At the event we asked “what would help you cycle more in the Hope Valley”. You said:

  • A Bike and Equipment Library
  • A monthly social ride which is accessible for all
  • Better information on routes/advice around cycling
  • Campaigning for 20mph zones, bikes on trains, bike parking and safe storage
  • Regular skill sharing on bike maintenance and routes
  • Working with local businesses and setting up loyalty cards/bike racks and storage/tools
  • An electric bike fleet for errands and recreation.

If you’d like to get involved and make some of these ideas happen please join the Hope Valley Bike Collective Whatsapp Community Group.
