Update on the 272 bus service
HVCA has checked the situation with the East Midlands County Combined Authority [EMCCA]. EMCCA states that there are no plans to withdraw the 272 service from Bradwell. EMCCA have confirmed this position with Clare Garth. EMCCA advises that the Bradwell services will continue to be operated but not necessarily by the same bus companies. As a result of the Mini Switzerland project EMCCA are already planning to increase the Council-supported elements of the service (evenings and Sundays) to create an hourly frequency all day.
On the wider Mini Switzerland project
We want to see better bus services for all the villages in the Hope Valley. We aim to support the delivery of the Mini Switzerland project by the East Midlands Combined Authority. Mini Switzerland provides a big opportunity to make top quality public transport available to all, both residents and visitors. We look to EMCCA for an urgent public statement about how they plan to take the project forward, how the £6m allocated to them by the Department for Transport will be spent, and how local communities in the Valley can contribute their ideas and reactions. We recognise that the proposals published by HVCA may have caused confusion. They are illustrations of how a Swiss-style system could work, not a decision by HVCA or EMCCA about specific bus routes. We want to work with EMCCA to make the project a success
