Speaker Meeting – The Greenhouse Gas Challenge for Cement: Strategies & Solutions
A discussion evening with short talks by Michael Lord [Senior Analyst (Industrial Decarbonisation), Climate Change Committee] and HVCA Energy Group members (Zee-Zee Heine & Simon Daniell) looking at the options for reducing or avoiding cement use
Cement production is very important to Derbyshire, but it is the biggest source of the county’s carbon dioxide production. We know that the world needs to reduce carbon dioxide production in every possible way so instead of capturing and storing CO2 from its production (CCS) how can we reduce or avoid the need for that production?
Following last year’s HVCA general meeting on Decarbonising Construction: Is Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) the only answer? which looked at decarbonising cement production by using CCS, we seek to look at the other side of the coin which is how we can use cement more efficiently or adopt building techniques which do not use cement at all.
The meeting is hosted by Hope Valley Climate Action Energy Group. Tickets are free, so get yours on Ticket Tailor here
