HVCA Spring Clean Walk
We’re teaming up with Trash Free Trails to host our first cleanup walk this month. Grab your family, friends and come on down for an evening stroll (but with a purpose!) as we enter the lighter hours of Spring.
When: Wednesday 8th April 5:45–7:30pm
Where: Bamford Station, Hope Valley, S33 0BN
Start: Bamford Station – meet at 17:45 for a 5min briefing before setting off.
This is timed with arriving by train or bus (see below for details)
Where we’ll go: A relaxed 5.6km walk crossing the river at Shatton before following a scenic riverside path along the River Derwent towards Hathersage. The route is mostly flat and should take around 1 hour 30 minutes. As well as enjoying the outdoors we’ll be removing as much litter as possible along the trail, then later we’ll count it all up and submit our findings to the Trash Free Trails Report!
Everyone will be provided with a litter picker and a bag but please bring a pair of gloves – see below on what else to bring.
What to bring:
Gloves you don’t mind getting dirty (to pick up litter)
Suitable footwear with grip
A bottle of water to stay hydrated
Layers and something waterproof (it’s April!)
Finish: The walk will finish at Hathersage Station road with the option to head to a local pub for a drink and social afterwards. Trains and buses are available for return journeys.
See you there? Please RSVP to emilygait@hopevalleyclimateaction.org.uk
