Bracken Bashing with HVCA
Last month, a great group of us tackled the bracken at our tree planting site at Overdale β huge thanks to everyone who came along. Now we need reinforcements for two more sessions:
π
Thursday 9th July
π
Tuesday 14th July
It’s a big job, so the more hands the better! Fair warning: whacking bracken is oddly satisfying β think of it as the anger management session businesses pay good money for. Add in stunning views and cake, and you’ve got a pretty great way to spend a morning.
What to bring:
π₯Ύ Sturdy footwear (boots or wellies)
π§₯ Weather-appropriate clothing β we’re 350m above sea level!
𧀠Gloves (bring your own if you have them, otherwise we’ve got spares)
π₯ͺ Lunch and drinks
π¦― A stout stick, about 1m long, if you have one (spares available)
No experience needed β everyone welcome!
Getting there:
Access is via the Abney end only (other tracks aren’t suitable for cars). Head to the end of Duper Lane (SK 18971 80188 / what3words: ///aviation.fled.plotter), where you’ll be directed to parking (limited spaces, so car-sharing is strongly encouraged).
β° Arrive by 9:20am for a 9:30am start
β° We’ll finish by 3pm, but leave earlier if you need to
πΆ It’s a 10β15 minute walk to the site over rough, exposed terrain
