20’s Plenty for Hope Valley
20’s Plenty for Hope Valley Villages – How to Get Involved
Register here …
One of the key objectives in the first year of Travelling Light is to strengthen priority for pedestrians and cyclists by:
- Building awareness of the benefits of lower speed limits to our villages
- Assessing and engaging the communities in the Hope Valley as to where they believe lower speed limits would be of benefit
We want to help make the Hope Valley a safer and more enjoyable place for all of us by prioritising ‘people and place’. Engaging communities as to their views on reducing the speed of traffic through the villages in the Hope Valley is just one way we can do this.
We have therefore joined forces with the National and County-wide 20’s Plenty Campaign within the context of the following developments:
- Many of UK’s larger cities have adopted 20mph for their residential streets
- Wales is about to implement a 20mph national default for residential roads.
- Mounting evidence which points to the effectiveness of 20mph limits including the benefits for younger and older generations and general community cohesion, enjoyment and liveability.
We believe that rural communities shouldn’t be left behind in making these changes and a valley-wide approach to reducing speed limits provides an opportunity for residents to reimagine and campaign for a more sustainable future for our villages.
