Insulating old houses, while avoiding the pitfalls, is challenging, especially if you are restricted in what you can do because your home is in the Peak District National Park, a listed building etc. So up to now only very small number of committed
climate pioneers have attempted that.
The HEAT hub project attempted to change that. The project was run by Marches Energy Agency and Nottingham Energy Partnership and ran for two years August 2023 to March 2025. It offered free whole house energy surveys for “hard-to-treat” old houses. You probably remember the HVCA Energy group promoting it.
We are greatly privileged to have Miranda Cumberbatch, the CEO at Nottingham Energy Partnership, who wrote the grant application for the project, to come and tell us how successful it was, what it achieved, and what the lessons learnt were. Is it successful as a model to get retrofit happening on a wider scale than just climate committed pioneers? Come and find out.
The Hope Valley Climate Action Energy Group looks forward to you joining us for what should be an interesting evening. There will be plenty of time for your questions.
