Would you like to help the local primary schools?
Local teachers would like to teach children more about renewable energy, recycling, and the best use of energy and water as well as help children make links between growing and eating food within a healthy and sustainable environment. Would you like to help facilitate the teaching of our children and grandchildren about these topics?
Following Frances Sussex’s very successful teaching conference in Buxton the teachers would like to put on a similar event but lack the organisational manpower to stage it so they are looking for help. Is this something you could help with? It would start small for the school Eco groups but hopefully expand to enable a cross-school climate conference. This would be an organisational and administrative role liaising with schools, charities, the venue, funders, handling registrations, etc. You would be part of a small group planning the event and liaising with potential helpers and speakers for it but it would not involve giving presentations.
Eyam Primary School now has solar panels and Bamford Primary School will have them soon. Other schools are hoping to do the same. HVCA has helped with these projects and provided a solar teaching equipment package.
If you would like to help with this initiative, please contact Simon Daniell at the HVCA Energy Group: energy@hopevalleyclimateaction.org.uk
Many thanks for your interest.
