Nine residents sit around a pub table for a Travelling Light event

Here are just a few of the events and campaigns Travelling Light has delivered in 2023. If you would like to get involved with future activities, email travelgroup@hopevalleyclimateaction.org.uk and ask to be added to our mailing list.

Walk and Talk, Wheel and Spiel

In April 2023, Bamford residents and our partner organisations joined us to walk and talk/wheel and spiel from Bamford railway station to the Angler’s Rest pub, via Hope Valley Garden Centre. As well as great “netwalking”, we took the opportunity to reflect on what needs to improve in order to make walking and wheeling more accessible and enjoyable in Bamford.

Summer fairs and village events

We attended lots of Hope Valley’s most popular summer events, including Hope Show and Hathersage Gala. Thank you to everyone who took the time to chat to us at our stall.

Youth project

In June we welcomed student from King Edward’s School in Sheffield as part of their sustainable transport project. They travelled by public transport to Hope, where they met with students at Hope Valley College to compare their travel issues and opportunities. You can read more about it here.

Community conversations

Led by Community Projects Officer Trish, these informal conversations took place in Bradwell, Bamford, Castleton and Grindleford. This allows us to gain local knowledge and support residents to work towards the changes they would like to see.
