Moving Together Means Business!

Businesses everywhere are looking for ways to make the best use of their assets, attract and retain talented staff, and demonstrate their commitment to the environment and communities they are part of.

Travel and transport have an important bearing on all these objectives. Businesses in High Peak and Hope Valley have particular pressures of  being in often sensitive, more rural environments. Employees’ difficulties in travelling to work can restrict the talent pool, cause unreliability, or create environmental and parking problems if everyone uses a car separately.

However, there are a number of shared transport solutions that can help address businesses’ problems. These are brought together in the Moving Together websites (for Buxton and Hope Valley respectively), along with some service providers, and include:

  • Lift-sharing, where employees share lifts to and from the same workplace, making travel viable for non-drivers, and especially helpful for shift working where this may not coincide with public transport times. Apps such as Kinto Join make it easy for employees to find other sharers, and this can be enhanced by employers providing dedicated car share spaces and guaranteed rides home if the arrangement is disrupted
  • Car-sharing, where employees may hire others’ vehicles, or the business may hire their fleet vehicles to the community out-of-hours. The Hiyacar app enables individuals and businesses to rent out and borrow shared vehicles easily, making the best use of expensive assets.
  • Sharing electric vehicle chargers; particularly suitable for businesses with car parks in areas without much off-street parking, where the business can hire out their chargers for overnight use by the community. The CoCharger app is an easy way of sharing EV chargers with nearby residents, generating an additional income and enhancing community status.

Check out these options on the Moving Together websites or today, and consider the benefits that shared transport may bring to your business.
