Hydrogen is often described as a clean fuel of the future, but its real value depends on where and how it’s produced, how it’s used, and what alternatives exist.

This talk will explore both the potential and the limitations of hydrogen in tackling climate change, from its vital role in hard-to-decarbonise applications to the risks of using it where simpler, cheaper solutions already exist. In doing so we will range over five key sectors: industrial processes, road transport, aviation, heating of buildings, and balancing the electricity grid. Drawing on the latest evidence from regional and national studies, the presentation will separate sound science from optimistic marketing and outline what a realistic hydrogen strategy might mean for the East Midlands and beyond.

There will be plenty of time for your questions. The Hope Valley Climate Action Energy Group looks forward to you joining us for what should be an interesting evening.
