The Hope Valley Bike Collective is a community led group of volunteers who plan events, activities and rides to support people of all ages and abilities to cycle more in the Hope Valley.

In response to local feedback around inclusive bike groups and cycling skills, the Hope Valley Bike Collective was established in the summer of 2025. The group exists to bring people together across the Hope Valley, share skills and encourage each other to be active whilst protecting the environment.

Hope Valley is a beautiful place to explore and live in but over the years car traffic has increased exponentially making an impact on the natural environment, health and also social connections.

By creating new opportunities to bring people together, building confidence in cycle skills we can increase awareness of different modes of travel in the area and make cycling accessible, fun and more of the everyday norm.

How can you get involved?

Join our monthly ride: First Sunday of every Month at Bamford Recreational Ground.

10am start for a gentle out and back social bike ride of 4 miles with the optional coffee and cake stop at The Kettle Cafe. Everyone is welcome and any bike will do!

Be part of the Collective: We meet every 2-3 weeks to discuss how to help everyone cycle more by organising events, workshops and campaigns. Get involved! See our calendar below for our upcoming events.

Share your ideas: Do you want to cycle but need some information, advice, skills, or perhaps just knowledge of where to park your bike? Get in touch with us by emailing emilygait@hopevalleyclimateaction.org.uk.

What do we have planned?

The group launched with an event in November 2025 ‘Pies, Pedals and Punctures’ at Hope Sports Club. The day was jam packed including free bike skills, a bike kit swap, film screenings, guest talks finishing off with a bike light parade! This year we have begun our monthly bike ride and we will be partnering with local groups and organisations to inspire others to cycle through sharing experiences, advice and skills. We also want to work with local businesses and amenities to improve bike parking and provision to make it easier to cycle for everyday journeys.

You may see us at the upcoming Hope Valley Adventure Film Festival or joining up with Trash Free Trails or at a Village Gala in the Summer. Come and say hello!
