As well as Artists opening their studios and spaces we have some exciting creative activities for you to get stuck in throughout the day:
Live Pottery Demonstrations
Hope Valley Garden Centre, Bamford: All day
Lee Waterman creates handmade pottery and contemporary ceramics for sale from his studio in Bamford. On the day Lee will be providing free pottery demonstrations – just ask when you pop in and he’ll be happy to show you!
Autumn Leaves Tiles & Tree Hangings
Upper Padley, Grindleford: hourly slots between 10 – 1pm and 2 – 4pm
Create your own autumn inspired tile and hanging made out of clay in this workshop led by Artist Brigitte Soltau in her studio in Upper Padley. The workshop will last approx 45mins and the pottery will be fired and glazed to collect 3 weeks later. Spaces are limited though and filling up fast so please book your space in advance.
What does Rail Travel mean to you?
Grindleford Padley Chapel: All day drop-in
Join local artists on a journey to explore railway connections through mixed media and collage. All ages welcome and all materials provided to either add to our mural or create your own piece. This activity will be held in the iconic Padley Chapel in Grindleford – a must-see!
Sketching in the Garden
Hathersage Methodist Church: 10:30 – 11:15
Join local artist Karen Perkins for an outdoor sketching session in the beautiful millennium gardens of Hathersage Methodist Church. Explore line drawing and botanical art. Sketchbooks, kindly donated by https://www.instagram.com/fredaldous and materials are provided and you’re also welcome to bring your own. Dress for the weather!
Hope Valley’s Young Artists
Hope Station: All day
We’ve been working with the pupils at Hope Primary School, and we’re showcasing some of their creations at Hope Station for the day. You can also see highly talented pieces by students from Hope Valley College, which are permanently on display at the station. At Hope look out for our ‘Art Station’ where there will be art materials for a quick sketch.
