Coat of Hopes

The Coat of Hopes is a patchwork coat made for a pilgrimage from the south coast of England to the gates of COP26, the UN Climate Summit in Glasgow in 2021.  (see  It is coming to the Hope Valley, specifically to Bamford, where it will arrive at The Angler’s Rest on Friday the 19th July at 9.30-10.00.  It will then march and sing its way past the school and allotments, ending up in St. John’s Church where it will remain on display.  It a beautiful object, and a Climate Action legend following on from its pilgrimage to COP26.  As well as welcoming the Coat to our Valley, people are also needed to wear and walk with it, as well as possibly carrying the train (apparently it is big and heavy!).  Do come and join us.

Later in the month, it will be in Edale for the 10am service on Sunday 28th July at the Parish Church, then processing to Edale Methodist Chapel in Barber Booth for the 3pm service and to be on display there until the 3rd August, hopefully including some creative and mending sessions, after which it returns to Sheffield and further travels….

There are further possible dates in the Hope Valley and / or Peak Wesley Way chapels during the week of the 22nd July tbc.
